Week 8 Devlog: Here comes the Drop


The last days of the production phase! This week all pieces started to drop together!

We made sure our game had all the awesome gameplay features that we wanted to add. The “beer mug drop”, the “dropping of the dancefloor” and the “disco ball drop” were all implemented in the game.

The “beer mug drop”: This event drops beer mugs from the ceiling that scatter on the ground and leave pools of beer. When a player walks in the pool, he gets drunk which means that for a certain durations his controls will be inversed

The “dropping of the dancefloor”: As the name it’s self indicates, the dancefloor of our disco isn’t that stable and can collapse at any time, when a character falls in the crack, he dies and respawn again.

The “disco ball drop”: This event start with the disco ball that drops down and shatters on the ground, it’s effect is a lower brightness of the dancefloor for a certain amount of time.

 

We added the animations to our NPC characters which made the game feel much more alive and energetic. Now u really feel like u are in a crowded disco!

  

We were able to fix the problem with the particle material, which made them a lot more vibrant and better visible in our scene.

A disco dance game would not be complete without some announcer voice lines, so we already recorded these to implement them as player feedback in the polish phase!
